Training
Scuba Diving is considered a technical sport. There are some skills that are required and active participation in doing specific things right in order to ensure safety and enjoyment. This is not a passive sport.
Proper training is necessary to ensure your safety and the safety of others. The entry-level is the basic open-water certification. From there you can get advanced certificates, specialty certificates, and even ascend to becoming an instructor. Training is the key!
The Central Valley Scuba Frogs believes that to maintain your safety and the safety of others, all participants should be trained in all aspects of any dive that they are participating. Don't get into a situation or environment that is beyond your skill level.
We are fortunate to have two instructors in the club, Bear Johnston and Robert Watson. Because of their extensive experience and passion for diving, both Bear and Robert provide mini-seminars at our monthly meetings. These mini-seminars are not designed to replace proper training, but to expose our members to other areas of diving in which they might not explore on their own. Recent mini-seminar topics included: spear fishing, mixed gasses, and photography.
